Are you E Street?  Do you believe that students can learn while having fun?  Do you believe that driving is a serious social privelege?  Then becoming a driving instructor may be a good part time job for you.

 

The State of Washington requires the following criteria to be eligible for training, testing, and licensure.

Qualifications
  1. Has been licensed to drive for five or more years and possesses a current and valid Washington driver's license.
  2. Not more than one moving traffic violation in the preceding twelve months, or more than two moving traffic violations in the preceding twenty-four months.
  3. No drug or alcohol related traffic violation or incident within the preceding three years.
  4. No driver's license suspension, cancellation, revocation, or denial within the preceding two years, or no more than two of these occurrences in the preceding five years.
  5. Is a high school graduate or the equivalent and at least 21 years of age.
Requirements
  1. Has completed an acceptable application on a form prescribed by the director,
  2. Has satisfactorily completed a course of instruction in the training of drivers acceptable to the director that is no less than 100 hours in length and includes instruction in classroom and behind the wheel teaching methods and supervised practice behind the wheel teaching of driving techniques; and
  3. Has paid an examination fee as set by the rule of the department and has successfully completed an instructor's examination as approved by the advisory committee.

 

 

 

 

Training is provided.  Employees are expected to pay the application fees.  Positions are part-time averaging 8 - 12 hours a week.  Afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts are required.
