What if I miss a class?
Washington State allows up to three (3) make up classes. Classes can be made up during a class session other than the one you are currently attending. Make up classes must be two (2) hours in length for full credit. Check our calendar for other class times, or speak with your instructor to determine another class session available to you.
Am I covered by my insurance while driving under a learner's permit?
All students enrolled at E Street Driving School, LLC are insured during class and drive lessons. Please contact your insurance provider to determine what steps are necessary to insure the permitted driver and your vehicle. It is important to add them to your policy effective the date the instructional permit was issued.
Can my friends ride in the car with me and my supervising adult while driving under my learner's permit?
Students who are driving under the supervision of a licensed driver with five years or more experience are allowed to have passengers, other than family, in the vehicle. Passenger restrictions only apply to those with an intermediate driver license. However, it is up to the licensed supervising adult to determine if additional passengers present a distraction to the learning driver.
Do I have to complete the course within a certain amount of time?
We allow four (4) months to complete the classroom and drive requirements. Our contract states that you may be required to retake the course with additional fees if not completed within this time frame. We realize that all students learn at different rates, and sometimes there are circumstances that may require an allotment of more time for a student to adequately learn. If you feel that you need more time, for whatever reason, please let us know prior to the end of the time frame so we can approve additional time for you to complete the class.
What if I lose my permit?
You can not legally drive without your permit, so you must get a replacement from the DOL as soon as possible. If you do not have your permit accessible to you at your scheduled drive time, the appointment must be canceled and rescheduled. There may be a $25 fee.
What if I fail a drive?
Drive lessons are intended for learning. If the instructor feels that you are not developing the necessary driving skills to complete a drive lesson, the instructor will recommend that you take more practice time in between your lessons. This will not jeopardize your completion of the class. We want to support students in becoming safe, alert drivers.
How do I schedule my drives?
Your drive account will be activated after you have completed six (6) hours of classroom instruction and we have verified your permit. We currently use an outside website at www.schedule2drive.com. Your account is included in your tuition so you will always use the student login.
The first drive cannot be scheduled before six (6) hours of classroom instruction, and the final drive cannot be completed until you have successfully completed your written final.
This account is available to you 24/7. Please be sure to login and cancel your drive as soon as you know you are not going to be able to keep the appointment. This allows other students in the system to fill your spot and helps us keep our employees and cars working.
Will I be required to drive during the winter in snow or ice?
We encourage students to schedule drives during the winter months so that we can keep the learning process going. If an instructor feels that the weather is stable enough to instruct a student, they will offer to keep the appointment. Many times the drive lesson will be done in a contained area for the sake of being exposed to driving in snow. If the scheduled student does not feel comfortable taking a lesson in the winter conditions, the drive may be canceled at no cost.
How will I know if class or a drive is canceled due to weather or illness?
The best place to find this information quickly is the Schedule2Drive website. Your account's home page has a message board that will alert all active students of any class or drive cancellations. If you need additional information, you may contact your local office. Please see our contact page here.
How long is my permit valid?
Your learner's permit is valid for one year, and you can renew it once for an additional year.
Once I am eligible for my license, do I have to get my license within a certain time?
You are eligible to test for your intermediate driver license when you have met these three requirements: 16 years of age, learner's permit for six months or more, successfully completed driver education. This eligibility does not expire. However, any drug or alcohol charges will likely jeopardize your ability to get an intermediate driver license.
Do I get a Traffic Safety Certificate at the completion of class?
Each student is issued a certificate of completion when the course requirements are met. It will be mailed to you within 2 weeks of the class completion date. If you need a replacement certificate, the fee is $15.
